Post subject:  Science Museum bans guns
Went to the Science Museum of Minnesota on Saturday to see the Body Worlds exhibit and noticed it was posted.

    They already have. The museum in Cody,Wyoming. Fantastic, you can see the development of firearms over time. Really some nice examples of firearm ideas that never survived.

    Expect to spend at leat a full day there.

    The Henry Ford Museum near Detroit has a great collection of Firearms from the Colonial period to about WWII. Probably only a couple hundred pieces so nothing like the Cody museum but worth checking out if you are in the Detroit area.

    As far as the Science Musuem ... all the socialist institutions that suck off Big Brother's tit all sleep in the same bed. When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on Paul's support, correct? They survive on government grants so it's no wonder they push for the socialist model at every turn.

    The Science Musuem is a "private non-profit" institution. They can do as they wish as any biz. and are not part of state government. Though as someone posted, they essentially get over 30% of their money from either the state or feds one way or another.

    The primary reason the musuem is posted is beacause of former President Dr. James Peterson. He now is the president of Gustavus college. His wife is an activist Luthern pastor in St. Paul. In addition, the other major factor in the museum being posted is the former VP for Marketing that has since moved on to the Mpls Library Board. The current president is from Boston MA and that in itself explains in many ways why the museum still is posted.

    Informally museum security staff knows that people violate the "signs" at the musuem each and every day. The museum is so worried about making anyone uncomfortable they even if you were "made" I doubt you would be asked to leave unless another patron saw you and made a complaint.

    There are a number of level 3 sex offenders housed in the general area of the museum that are registered with the St. Paul Police. That in itself says something. Really watch your children there.

    Consider a vist to the musuem as you would to as a visit to a larger "dale" mall. Unfortunately it could be a mark for something bad to happen for a number of reasons. In some ways much like a school. Also know that the museum cancelled its "rent a cop" from the St. Paul PD because they could not afford it. There rarely if ever is one at the museum.

    The museum celebrates its 100 year birthday this year. In all that time I doubt they have had any interest in if its patrons were armed until the MPPA passed the first time.

    On a side note, the museum does have a fairly large collection of shotgun and rifles. Not many people know that. Perhaps they should be encouraged to destroy those evil devices used so long ago to collect specimans way back when.

    If you feel inclinded to contact the President or Senior VP about the museum permit policy here are their email addresses. No worries those addresses are posted in the public here and there.

    You will be complaining on deaf ears, but good to remind them that as a permit holder the state/county knows more about you being an upstanding citizen than its employees. They don't run yearly background checks on employees. As I said, monitor your children closely and be wary of "summer camp" youth helpers. The museum employs a number of "urban youth" that they know little about. As they are minors the museum is blind to some bad apples.
