They don't post the door that says "employees only" or something like that. Since the requirement is to post all entrances, I'd say they don't meet it.

Besides, you could consider their posting just part of their (not very successful) attempt to emulate "British pub atmosphere".

I tend not to go places that post, whether they do it legally or not. I believe that in posting they are saying that permit holders are the same as criminals.

Ditto. Legally posted or not, I try as hard as possible to not support businesses that post.

Not sure what brought it on, but when I got my permit 2 years ago, I noticed that Northern Tool in Burnsville was posted. I was trying to buy a lawn mower, and they were the only place around that had the model I wanted. I emailed them my dilemma, and they never returned my email, but weeks later the signs were gone, and still are, afik.

Don't know if it was my email or not but somethign got them to change their minds. Hopefully other places will as well.

I think that when the 2003 law was passed a lot of people and businesses panicked. Rebecca’s group, legislators, sheriffs, reporters, etc had been screaming for years about the sky falling over this law. There would be blood in the streets, gang members would be able to get permits, etc...

I believe with letters like yours and some time to realize that they had been lied to; more and more businesses have changed their minds and stopped posting.

PS: I am still irked about Champs in New Brighton, only place I have found to get a decent chicken salad or meat loaf sandwich. :x

Yeah- I miss their Oriental Chicken Salad. And those waffle fries with the sour cream dip.
I'm pretty sure they're posted in Burnsville too, which is my stompin grounds.
Now I go to Roadhouse In Burnsville. Nice friendly place, good food, free peanuts to munch, and it's NOT POSTED.

The last time I was up there, the Champps in the Ridgedale parking lot wasn't posted.

For the adventurous, give this Champps copycat recipe a try:

Oriental Chicken Salad

Shredded Iceberg lettuce
wonton strips
water chestnuts
red pepper slices
carrot slices
mandarin oranges
snow peas
toasted almonds
grilled chicken

Place lettuce in bowl and arrange other items on top. Finish off with chunks of grilled chicken and either Sesame or Sweet & Sour dressing. Good Seasons makes a Sesame dressing. Below are two different recipes for a Sweet & Sour kind of dressing:

1. Marinade: makes 1 1/2 quarts so reduce ingredients if you want to make a smaller batch.
1 1/2 cups soy sauce
1 1/2 cups red wine vinegar
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 tablespoons fresh gingerroot
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1/2 cup corn oil
1 1/2 cups chili oil
1 1/2 cups water

Heat water, add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Bring to a brief boil. Remove from heat, strain and cool in refrigerator.

2. Dressing

2 C. sugar
1/3 C. oil
1 C. vinegar
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. onion salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. mustard
Salt and pepper
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Serve over tossed salad.

You -- and me, and hundreds of other Minnesota permit holders -- brought it on. Our letters, calls and emails so outnumbered those of the blissninnies that businesses -- especially manly-man businesses like Northern Tool, quickly figured out that they were alienating their best customers.

Commerce trumps fearmongering every time. :)

That's why I encourage everyone to jump in when we find a new sign. We make a difference!

Isn't that a non compliant posting, then?
If you didn't see the sign................

Jumping in really late here, but last time I walked past Brit's, the sign was black lettering on a gold background. Hard to read when the sun is shining on it.

If someone walks past Brit's with a camera, take a picture. I'm always interested in the amusing half-buttocked attempts at compliant signs.

How's this for service?

Image

I was going to wait until I left for home, but it was just too darn nice outside to not go for a walk down Nicollet Mall. You can see in the picture folks are outside having a nice adult beverage.

I suppose that's the best way to get along with Brit's. Drink their beer, but out on the sidewalk which is not their premises.

I also snapped this one on the way that has been bugging me for a long time.
