Visited the Star Wars jawa transports today. Upon entering the front door, a nice security person requests everything from your pockets and you walk through a metal detector. Yes, the building is posted.

They also get away with posting the parking lot. Since the parking lot can only be entered by emplyees with a security card, it can be posted "no guns" just like the building.

Not according to the law, it can't.

Quote:
Subd. 17. Posting; trespass.
...
(b) As used in this subdivision, the terms in this paragraph have the meanings given.
...
(4) "Private establishment" means a building, structure, or portion thereof that is owned, leased, controlled, or operated by a nongovernmental entity for a nongovernmental purpose.
(c) The owner or operator of a private establishment may not prohibit the lawful carry or possession of firearms in a parking facility or parking area.

I work at the Best Buy office in Richfield (unfortunately not in the capacity to get rid of the signs). I can't remember the last time I entered from the public lot, so I can't speak to the signage there. However, the employee parking lot isn't posted. The signs are right at the employee entrances.

Not that I agree with them, but I do believe they are following the law as written.

But they do not post their retail stores. That's the big win.
