I received this from someone who would like to remain anonymous. I edited the message a bit to keep the writer's identity concealed.

Quote:
I work at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Just to give you and others the heads up: they are very anti-carry there.

If they could post, they would, so tell everyone to conceal very well. I ran into one permit holder who was exposing a part of his gun, and I told him to conceal it better. Administration would blow a gasket if they saw someone carry or just do something where their pistol would be exposed for a second.

They freak when BB gun manufacturers try to sell BB guns, and the gun show is treated like the guns are ready to walk around and shoot everyone.

If you could just pass the word to conceal well at the convention center. There are only a small handful of us who are pro-carry there.

As the writer points out, the convention center, being a government entity, is not permitted to post, although presumably, the events renting the space could.

Good to know. Thanks, Anonymous.

Wow... another intra-govermental entity? I had never heard of them. But it looks like they changed their name in 2006. The went from GMCVA (19 syllables) to MMOC+VA (21 syllables.) The reasoning for this was because the name is "shorter and sounds less bureaucratic." I shit you not, these people run our country.

As far as I am concerned they can ring their hands over carry all they want. Further if they try to make up any of their own rules (read pre-emption) by playing a shell game by implying some quasi Government entity has the authority to make up their own rules, then I think a legal challenge may be appropriate.

The last event I attended there was a weapons collector show. I was carrying discreetly; however with the no loaded guns sign at the entry to the hall, I did unload in the men’s lavatory. Not what I would do in the future.

With the ramp and lot parking what it is at the CC, and the almost complete lack of any police or security outside the center I would not even consider going unarmed.

I do not attend any baseball, football, basketball events, or patronize any venue in either of the cities when there is any attempt whatsoever to disarm me.

Who wants to bet that the new Gophers stadium will be posted the day it's completed?

(I know that they can't legally do it, and I ignored the signs at the Metrodome when I attended UM games there, but it's still going to be interesting to see how they attempt to do it at the new place.)

I would never recommend a person open carry in the City of Minneapolis, however, if someone does, sounds like a great place to hang around. :)

You are NOT breaking the law.

(That said, I don't condone open carry.)

I just had to reword it abit, or maybe fix it to make it a more realistic request.

Concealment is your friend. A Kel Tec in a pocket goes a long way...not that I'd ever carry when working an event. 8)

Yes. It's a large profit-making enterprise for the city. That's money I DON'T have to pay in taxes, thanks.

PT145, 10+1 is quite small, quite possibly small enough to be your pocket gun :)

I have a pt145, it is a bit much for the pocket, but it is almost always on me somewhere.

I thought about carrying during the MN bar exam at the convention center last week. Unfortunately, the risk of getting tossed from the exam for having "contraband" didn't seem worth it.
