I was wondering how I can become a certified firearms instructor. What are the requirements, cost, etc... :D

Depends on what you want to do............NRA training is a good base to start with for most anything (Many certifying orgs use it as a prerequisite.)

Carry Training in MN can be done through an existing organization (see individual websites) or you can create your own Certifying org (see MN DPS website.)

You can get certified under several organizations that are out here, such as AACFI, MADFI, or many of the smaller groups that offer Minnesota permit to carry training courses. Some of the training organizations out here require a NRA certification or two before they will even take you under their wing.

Another option, if you have the background and training on paper to back it up is to start your own training organizations like a lot of us have. Here is the link to the info on the Minnesota BCA web site -
http://www.dps.state.mn.us/bca/Invest/Documents/StandardsforFirearms.html

Myself, I am independent, started my own training organization in 2005 when the standards changed. Before that I was instructing strictly under the NRA certifications, but since then have advanced my training credentials by attending several courses and bringing some of the information that I learn back into my permit to carry and other courses.

Sign up for the ttousi-led NRA training that Old Dude is arranging here: http://www.twincitiescarry.com/forum/vi ... php?t=4385

Complete that and you'll not only have the benefit of very good NRA training, but you'll be $50 and four hours from a MADFI certification. :)

Location would be nice. :)

Is it an issue if I've taken the NRA instructor training, but haven't gotten the paperwork back yet?

Keep watching your email. :)

For my own sanity, I need to "batch" the email replies together, and do them once. Thanks for your patience.

It's not a problem to take the class before your official NRA creds arrive. Your completion card will suffice for now.
