Since I have the range anyway, and others have suggested it,

What about a fun shoot in Cokato on Sunday May 20th.

Our range is capable of supporting 15+ shooters at once, we also have a rifle range that will go to 300 yds. There is also a single trap thrower for general use as well as a running deer range.

Camping is allowed on site, but no hook-ups for an RV. There is plenty of room though for a camper though.

For non-members, there would be a $10 range fee. Membership is $35 per year and $100 for 3 years.

What's a running deer range?

If it's just for the day I'd be interested, except I'm without a car right now. Is anyone driving there from near Minneapolis?

I will be sleeping there Saturday night so sun up to sun down.

A running deer is a target that is on a pulley system. You move it across the range and it bounces just like a running deer.

Black powder, shotgun, rifle and pistol are all welcome.

I suppose if you want to bring tannerite, a mortar or a howitzer, those could be accomodated as well.

We can even accomodate you if you really want to bring a bow too.

We would also be happy to bring any food items, just let us know so we don't have all buns and no brats.

I have a small gas grill, there are also a couple fire pits.

If we would like to turn it into a potluck, it would be nice.

I would highly recommend bringing bottled water. While there is a well with running water, I wouldn't drink it myself.

Who will volunteer for what?

I have 2 bags of chips to start it off and a case of water.

As to what to bring.

I have seen everything shot there. FUll auto MP5, full auto M4 carbine, .50 cal barrets, 12 pound howitzer, 1 lb tannerite, 12" black powder mortar.

If you want to shoot it, bring it.

I might have to stop by on my way to work.

John, can you post a map to the range via Hiway 12?

There's a bar/restaurant near there in Winstead. I've already spoken with the owner about those of us who carry. He's not against it at all. Who knows, he might even cut us a break on food & beverages if enough of us go there.

Directions from Cokato. PDF link here

Turn North at the stop light on County Road 3. This is the only light in Cokato and right at Casey's gas station.

Go north about 3 miles until you see the sign for Rainbow Sportsman's Club.

Turn right, go to the end.

Turn left, go about a mile north. It will be on your right hand side.

I spoke with my wife last night about food, she is thinking about making a pan of brownies tonight for the weekend. Are the brats and buns covered or should we pick some up, we could also pick up something from the deli.
