I really, really want to attend. I have to admit I'm a little apprehensive though, as I've never done this kind of shooting before. Normally I'd also be a little, oh I dunno, feeling out-of-place given you folks all seem to know each other and I'd be an outsider, but frankly everyone here seems extremely welcoming to new faces.

I'll try taking a walk around the block to think about it

The interesting thing that I have found about this group is that how ever much bluster there is on the web, we are all pretty darn friendly face to face. I had not met many of the people who showed up last time and it was good to put handles to faces/names. And hey, shooting steel is SO much fun.

Will it be starting at 12:00 like the previous thread mentioned? Would it be ok to join in for a couple of hours...I have an engagement in the early evening.

For a new person to this sort of shooting event, any special things I should know?

Come along and join us for as long as you can. Make sure you let me know your leaving time and we'll get you through all four of the stages before you go. We don't want another hammAR incident.

Bring lots of ammo, hangun of your choice, functional holster, hearing and eye protection(mandatory), sunscreen, a sense of humour (hammAR is going to make us laugh when he dances with "Bess"  and be ready for a good time.

PS to all other forum members especially the ladies............You are ALL invited to this, please don't think this is an insider's think, join us and we can all match faces to handles/names.

Selurcspi,
Are these steel challenge stages?

I'm actually free that Saturday and thinking about showing up.

Keith,

SC stages need a large range each, so these four will fit ou our two, come out of my head and be 5 shot minimum (so members of the "Church of the appropriate revolver" can compete too), best 3 times to count.

We will also have a man v man for bragging rights afterwards.

Thanks.

I did find the other thread a few minutes ago that describes it and just so I understand, it is falling steel, correct? If it's falling steel I just need to bring the appropriate .38 loads.

I just have to decide which gun to shoot.
Would I be shunned if I showed up with a "race" holster and a revolver?
:)
Although I really should try the new IDPA rig out I bought for the 686.

Keith,

I showed up last time with my IPSC racegun and rig, there were a few grumbles before we started but afterwards all was as it should be. Though I think I might have bruised a few egos. Likely as not that was because I'm English and in tha land of the Gun an old short fat Brit is not supposed to win.....

Seriously now, bring ammo sufficient to knock down poppers and just expect to have fun. We all tease each other and if you join in, in that, even hammAR :P :P will forgive the race rig, in fact if you start teasing him now I think you'll fit in just fine

Sorry hammAR I couldn't resist

If I dig around I may find a real holster for the 625. Even my gamey major power factor .45 loads will take down steel no problem. Even if they're set heavy. As long as I do my part that is.

Decision. Decisions.
