Has there been a semi-official call time for this event? There was talk about it starting a little earlier, say 10:00am..ish...?

If this is a go and with an established time, is there anyone up to car pooling?

I plan on going and I live in the Mankato area, but not in the city limits ( ).

What about you in the east/west metro, maybe the western or southwestern side of the state?

Just trying to plan ahead.

I believe we can start at 11 rather than 12, a bit of a compromise for a couple of reasons.
First there is an IR50 shoot (22 rifle) that morning and you know what dedicated rifle shooters are like! (insult possibly intended, if you want to take it   )
Second some of us are traveling from afar and a 10am start could be a problem, though later in the year I’d like to start one or two at 9am to give us more playtime afterwards.

That is a busy weekend so I won't be able to make it this time.

On the 28th I have to play match director for our three-gun match at SCAPSA.

I think I will be able to make this shoot. And maybe if Cobb is a nice guy, he'd let me ride with him :P

I don't have my permit yet, don't have a holster yet and wouldn't be comfortable shooting from a holster yet anyways but I would like to go just to meet people and watch. Would that be ok?

Absolutely, but you should really participate. This is a very newbie-friendly event. I went into the last steel shoot with no holster experience (other than playing Dirty Harry in my living room) and no competitive shooting experience. There were varying degrees of skill among the participants from uber-experienced sharpshooters to absolute beginners like me. Everyone was very nice and I can't think of a better opportunity to learn, get an introduction to shooting sports, and, oh yeah, have fun!

Last time, Selurcspi did a brief holster class before we started shooting. He's a great instructor and I learned a lot. In fact, I felt guilty having not paid anything for the class. I'd love to take more training from him.

What kind of gun do you have, rucker? I'd be happy to meet up with you at Gander Mountain or Bill's and I'm sure we could find a holster that would work for you. I could also give you a little primer on holster work from what I remember of Selurcspi's class.

I'd really encourage you to give it a try. I was a little apprehensive about attending, but was made to feel very comfortable and I'm happy I did it. I can even give you a ride there. Anybody else interested in a carpool?

Thanks for the offer! I have an XD45 Compact. I guess I do have the XD Gear holster that it came with but it's pretty minimal. I met glock+ipod at Bill's a couple of weeks ago and he ran me through a quick holster introduction and told me what to practice but I haven't started doing that yet. I guess if I could just find a belt that wasn't falling apart my XD Gear holster would suffice temporarily :D

That will work just fine to play games with.

So come over to Hutchinson and find out if your XD gear is all that minimal, it may work perfectly for you, or maybe it won't, but that you will not find out until you come out and play. 8)

Well I'm going to try and swap shifts at work so I can make it out again, this time on time  I'll know more in a couple days. Looks like it'll just be me.

I used my XD Gear holster and mag holder last time. Worked just fine for me and I plan to use them again, although I need a sturdier belt to prevent the dreaded gun-flop. Anybody know if Streichers has a good selection of gun belts at the store? I've never been there.
