Post subject:  UPDATE: September Downtown Lunch 9/27 11:30 am The Local

This is the regularly scheduled monthly lunch.

Srigs and I went out reconnoitering for a new spot today. Unfortunately, after checking many places it is an unavoidable fact that downtown is the land of the $10 hamburger.

We settled on The Local.

They have a decent lunch deal - sandwich of your choice, plus a side and soft drink for $10.99. That includes tax and tip.

I'll call tomorrow and see about reserving a private room.

Looks like you'll need to find a new venue soon. The article didn't say how soon.

Sure it did

Well, I have a work meeting in St. Paul on the 27th. Are there any new plans for lunch? It would be nice to have a chance to meet some of you.

Thanks. It depends on the meeting agenda I may try to leave at 11:15 to come to lunch. I will be at MPCA St. Paul. M*pQuandry sends me across on 94 and exit at 11st ST. Will I be looking for a parking ramp near 9th and Nicollet? Driving/parking suggestions are welcome.

I've used google in the past.

Nicollet Mall is closed to vehicular traffic. do NOT try to drive on Nicollet. :-)
You'll come in on 11th which is one Way west bound. Turn North at LaSalle. The Local is on Nicollet between 9th and 10th. There should be a couple parking garages in the area.

if you're looking for easy and close but not the cheapest as you come up Lasalle you can cross 10th and turn right into the Target store underground parking ramp - if you spend $ at Target you can get a validation ticket. you could come out on either 10th st and be a half a block away, or come up at 9th & Nic. and be about a block away as well. There are also several other lots and ramps within a 2-5 block walk.

if you've got a good sized stash of quarters, there's about a 50-50 chance that there will be an open meter along 10th -- but I think they're getting $2 an hour for them so it takes quite a few quarters to get thru lunch!

Parking options:

One of the best options might be if you need to get anything from Target anyhow is to park in their ramp and spend at least $20. You will get a parking voucher good for a couple hours. Enter on LaSalle.

There is a surface lot behind the Local. It tends to get pretty full. I believe the entrance is on 9th st S. This is the lot next to Haskell's that has all the music notes painted on the side of the building.

Across the street from there is the Mar-Ten ramp. Enter on Marquette between 10th & 9th Street S.

One block further East you will find three more surface lots and the Leamington ramp.
