Sounds like the NRA insurance is the only way to go.

Just as an idea.
If only 1% of the 55,000 permit holders opted in yearly to be eligible to use the fund.
55,000 X 1% = 550 X $20(yearly dues)= $11,000 not alot but it would be a start.

I really like this idea. Depending on the ins and outs, I would be in. Who has the know how to see how feasable this is?

I am going to check what the internets has to offer.

Could the self defense fund be a hybrid between prepaid legal services and a group fund.

Meaning is there a lawyer or group of lawyers that would administer the fund, we as permit holders pay into it, then maybe there would be some sort of board that would have to agree on payout on a case by case basis.

I am an insurance agent, and none of the companies I write for would cover a self-defense shooting lawsuit. Not on your homeowner's or umbrella policies. As stated before they are for negligent, non-intentional acts. Even if you find a home/umb policy that would, they wouldn't cover any punitive damages awarded. I am not sure if the NRA policy would cover those either. Definetly something to look into.
