Have you instructors seen a increase in people wanting to get a permit before Obama takes office?

Once the MSM "declared" Obama the winner in Oct I took my renewal class even though my permit doesn't expire until May 09. Hopefully I will still be able to get the renewal. I am counting on it...

I am curious as to why when compared to what other training organizations are reporting.

I limit my class size to about 20 students, depending on the situations and if I can get another instructor in to assist. But the past November classes that I have had have been filled, one of my December classes is filled and the other December class has 8 confirmed students for a class that is almost 4 weeks out.

It is because of where I live. My "area" so to speak is bordered by ND on the west. Not many of them are interested in the MN Permit. Prior to 2003, my county was either at the top or right near the top in number of permit holders. Meaning....we "get it!" up here and the base of possible new permit holders is smaller (percentage wise) than others.

I was able to get 6 people signed up for permit classes in just the last 2 months.

Renewal dates are probably why it's busy.

Only a small part of it; the renewal flurry is gone. Most of the folks in my classes are new applicants, these days, although there certainly are some refreshers and upgrades, as well.

Before the election, yes maybe 50% renewals.

Saturday's class at Scheels had 2 renewals and 18 new, with several admitting they are getting their permit because of the election results.

Yep, I'm very busy with private classes. All are new permits and many because of the recent elections.

The question, of course, is why?

If The One engineers a federal ban on carry, a state carry permit won't make a difference.

I think it's a combination of increased awareness and pure cussedness: some people just woke up, and others are getting a permit as a thumb in the eye of those that would forbid it.

I predict that the next couple months will see a large surge in issued permits.

I think there are some folks who think that they'll be "grandfathered in until we can get new leadership who are pro 2nd amendment".

I think that if there's some sort of nationwide carry permit ban, they're wrong; I think we're unlikely to see such soon, and I'm hoping not ever.
