I didn't exactly think the reference to black helicopters or the "But the fringe concerns are inflated," comment was necessary or productive but all in all, not too bad.

Understandable. I called it as I saw/see it because:

1. Tevlin's not an idiot; he'd been reading the black helicopter crowd, and was wondering if there was really any story here, or just ODS paranoia. I think there is a story here, and thought it in everybody's interest to help shape it, rather than have him go on to the next guy in his Rolodex.

2. I calls 'em as I sees 'em, anyway.

If nobody was talking nonsense about, oh, "get your permit now and be sure to be grand fathered (sic) in!" I wouldn't feel it necessary to dismiss the hysteria, as there wouldn't be, but there is.

I hear you. I think there is a legitimate fear of a degredation in the ability to exercise our rights (carry). They may not be able to take away our right to carry but, laws could be enacted to make our guns illegal or to limit our ability to replace them. This would, in effect, evicerate the right we have today.

Oh, I'm definitely of the opinion that there's a threat to the RKBA in the form of the Obama administration, but I think it's a serious error to get that nature and the pace of that threat wrong.

And while I'm obviously in favor of people getting carry permits and/or buying ballistic devices of their preference, I think it's unseemly (at best) to be shouting about how the sky is falling and you've got to sign up for some bowling ball salesman's class today, or suchlike.

If that's who was next on the list, then you need more thanks for stepping up.
