Took Cobb's PTC class last Saturday and paid the county 'extortion'........er........permit fee today.

I am about to accept employment in TX (won't start/move 'til after New Years). I realize that TX recognizes a MN permit, but, what do I have to do to transfer (if it's even possible)/ or get a permit in TX?

Can I just walk into the local SO and they'll make me up a TX permit or would I have to take a class all over again? :?

Anyone know what I'd need to do?

Thanks!

1. your MN permit is NOT valid in TX
2. if you opt to get a TX permit, you need to go through their issuing process...and that includes a class etc.

You will also need to notify the issuing sheriff of your move once your permanent address changes within 30 days of that change. You can request a new permit with your new address but the law does not require you to do so.

I also seem to recall a Texas law that residents are required to have a TX permit. I reserve the right to be completely wrong, though!

Non-residents can carry on a Florida permit - for example.

Texas is shall-issue. See if Cobb's class adn certificate will suffice, pay the TX fee and get that permit, too.

It's only money, and you can't take it with you.

Yes...I was 100% in error. My mind cramped. TX honors Utah...not MN....go figure....just the way it is....
