This is ridiculous. It's constructed like a puzzle. Just think about this.

Snip

This man Pheifer could not have butchered the plot more grossly. No one could be expected to sift the story from this article at first glance.

I thought the newspaper story was pretty straightforward. The first part is the defendant's version of events, the second part is the prosecution's version. You can't therefore expect one cohesive line of events. The story isn't about the actual incident, but the resulting trial, the contradicting positions taken, and the verdict.

Possibly it is tradition?

Quote:
Fang said he ran to his car and got his .40-caliber Glock out of the glove box. He said he had a conceal-carry permit.

When he returned to the house, two men jumped him and tried to take his gun. The gun went off three times as they struggled over it, he said.

A reluctant participant, indeed.

The Jury apparently ruled it so.

You have a duty to retreat if safe to do so. You 're not required to jump from the frying pan into the fryer, nor into traffic, nor to leave relatives / loved ones behind.

He was going to the defense of his brother...

Alright. Withdrawn with all due contrition. And that's fair enough.

I must have missed something obvious that went completely over my head. Not the first time, and I'm sure it won't be the last...

The only thing I can see that Blong did wrong was leave his gun in the car. He’s lucky he had time to retrieve it.

That may have been the most illogically constructed news article I've ever read. After reading it twice and all the commentary here, I STILL have not a clue what really happened.
