ND recently changed their weapons permit law. A brief description is here: http://www.ag.nd.gov/Brochures/FactSheet/CWPermits.pdf

Basically, a shooting requirement was added and age increased to 21 for a Class 1 Permit. Class 2 permits still only require a written test and age 18. With the addition of this class 1 permit, what are the chances of MN now recognizing ND permits and, thus, ND accepting MN permits?

Current ND reciprocity is listed here: http://www.ag.nd.gov/BCI/CW/reciprocity.htm. MN is listed as pending.

It would be necessary for Michael Campion (Commissioner of Public Safety) to fulfill his obligations. That would be nice; I'm not holding my breath though. :bang:

i may be reading this wrong but Minnesota is listed under the main heading of STATES DECLINING RECIPROCITY

Quote:
Request for reciprocity under ND new state laws pending in the following states. The state's previous status is listed for convenience.
Minnesota 5

KEY

5 This state excludes certain classes of applicants (e.g. those convicted of any drug/alcohol offense, individuals with a history of mental health-substance abuse). this state has determined ND's laws are not as restrictive as its laws; therefore reciprocity is not possible.

Get it now while the getting's good.

Utah's new Governor, wants to get the laws changed so that only Utah residents came become permit holders. He has a small following in the Churchislature (state legislature run by the LD$ Inc). They might not have time to deal with it, with all the new alcohol and gay related themes sure to come up as always.

A really quick glance at reciprocity tells me that if I can't renew my Utah permit when it expires, Florida would be just as good. I'd lose Washington, but gain Florida, with no change anywhere else; and for the moment their permit is good for two years longer than Utah's.
