One might also run afoul of the DNR regulation prohibiting uncased guns within 25 yards of a vehicle.

Can you give a source for this?

There isn't one. The current transport law is summarized as follows:

Quote:
Firearms Transportation
A person may not transport a firearm, including a handgun, in or
on a motor vehicle unless the firearm
is:
• unloaded and cased;
• unloaded and in the closed trunk of a motor vehicle; or
• carried under a valid permit to carry a pistol or handgun.

Under the following circumstances, a person may transport
unloaded, uncased firearms (excluding pistols) in a motor vehicle,
including ATVs:
• while at a shooting range with permission
• while lawfully hunting on private or public land or while travelling
to or from a site the person intends to hunt or has lawfully hunted
that day.

Firearms must be transported unloaded and cased:
• within Anoka, Hennepin, or Ramsey counties.
• within an area where firearms discharge has been prohibited.
• within the boundaries of a home rule, charter, or statutory city
with a population of 2,500 or more.
• on school grounds
• as otherwise restricted in game refuges, shining or night vision laws.

Sure, but at least we can have our rifles uncased within 25 yards of our vehicles now.  :bang: :bang: :bang:

I meant that you already have a carry permit. How could they charge you if you have your ducks in a row?

You'd have to obtain a permit ahead of time.

Ideal world, or the world of MPD?

In theory, you're perfectly legal.

But watch them try...

How about walking in a park with a rifle in your town Mark? Any different reactions?

Remember, SCOTUS says laws against armed assembly do not violate the 2nd Amendment.

Well I am not a law dog nor do I play one on TV...

I live in Carlton county.... Got to witness the whole circus that happened when th Hells Angels came to town... Now I know who they are and what the do/stand for... I also wittnessed first hand what happened with all the ABC groups that fall into the LEO catigory,,,,,, Local, State, and FED...ECT roll into town. IT SCARED THE LIVING FECES OUT OF ME!!!! A long story made short...... When the Outlaws were "Cut off at the
Pass" while on their way into MN. They were told YOU CAN NOT COME INTO MN, TURN AROUND AND GO BACK!!! Then they were quite literly given "The Riot Act" https://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/sta ... &year=2008

While talking with a member of the Thin Blue Line.... I was told, by him, ...We are violating civil rights everywhere... That was just before he went driving off into the darkness....

There's a difference between a city park and city street why? :?:

Good to know. I was all set to sling a Mosin Nagant (for the purposes of irony, you know, the line "Your rifle has fought against itself and won every time." from http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm ) and protest peacefully a (politically) safe distance from any townhall meetings, should Barak come here.

Good to know in advance that I am a second class citizen by way of urban living.

Odd. I was wishing I'd bought that rubber band gatling, back when I saw it at a gun show. I'd make up a model humvee out of cardboard, and cruise around the perimeter of the crowd doing overwatch....
