Do you mean with a permit or without?

Without a permit. I know, from what I've read, that you can carry it without a permit while hunting.. but I'm just curious if you can carry without a permit while camping in the deep woods.

Short form: in some situations, yup. In others, nope. You're better off with a permit, which covers most situations.

You're welcome, of course. That's a particularly good question, but there really aren't many stupid ones.

First, my recommendation is to get a permit, there are a myriad of reasons that extend beyond carrying...

Weapons
It is unlawful for any person to possess explosives of any kind. It is also against the law for any person to possess a firearm (including an air gun) unless the firearm is unloaded and completely contained in a fully enclosed gun case or unloaded and contained in the closed trunk of a vehicle. A person who is legally permitted under MS 624.714 to carry a handgun in the State of Minnesota, may legally carry that handgun in state parks.

IANAL, but there is some precedent that renting a campsite makes that your residence, so it would be lawful, but I wouldn't want to test those waters.

Sure. If you just get the carry permit, you don't have to think about having that kind of test case.

Test cases are for others. I try to keep it concealed when camping. Of course I've been to one camp site that was very pro carry.
