Just letting you guys know it is out there.

A recent post included:

Quote:
What goes on at gun ranges anyway? Do people know the difference between shooting a real person and shooting at a target at a gun range? When shooting at a target, does it feel like one is shooting an actual person? And why do you need to feel like you are shooting at an actual person unless you plan to do so? And, of course, here is yet another AK-47 bought on the "street" for cash.

Where do the street guns come from? The gun guys commenting on my blog have alleged that they come from everywhere but from private sellers and most especially not from private sellers at gun shows. And yet, we have many hidden camera videos and articles proving how easy it is to buy as many guns as you want from private sellers- no questions asked. Yes, I know, many crime guns are stolen or purchased through straw purchases from federally licensed dealers. As the recent report from Mayors Against Illegal Guns shows ( see my previous post) , guns are trafficked all over our country and often come from states with laxer gun laws. They all start out as "legal" purchases from Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers. From there, they don't fall from the sky, as a friend of mine has said. Street guns are easy to buy and easy to come by.

I commented with the question "would you accompany someone from MN to a gunshow to see for yourself how hard or easy it is to buy a gun without showing ID?" and "would you accept the offer to go to a gunrange with someone from MN to see what goes on there?"

Now, I figure someone like Joel would be a great person to do the above two things. As a well known author outside the gun world, chances are he'd have a better chance of convincing someone he wasn't an evil killer with an elaborate trick.

I think you would be fighting a loosing battle. She refers as guns as designed to murder :bang: It might be fun to do a little gentle trolling

I'd never use a person type target; now targets that illustrated baby seals, koala bears, or little furry kittens may be a different matter altogether
Am I deranged :?:

Probably video of Bloomberg's thugs :!: Still waiting to hear about Federal indictments and prosecution of all the parties involved in those actual crimes :!:

Pointed out that she was being a bigot directly rather than just implying it and she never posted it. Right before she complained about

"So it's O.K. for "your side" to do this but I can't even be an advocate for what I believe in according to the people commenting here. I smell hypocris"

Yes Japete I smell a hypocrite and the smell is coming from YOU

It's too fancy and polished. It is just another front for CSM. What they lack in membership, they make up in web sites. Just who is "me."

I suspect the Joyce Foundation buys these sites by the dozen and plants one here and there.

Actually she is the VERY active in the Brady campaign. There is even an article at the Brady website with her in Washington.

From The Brady campaign site

“When we are organized, we can do something,” says Joan Peterson, President of the Northland Chapter and the Million Mom March Chapters’ national representative to the Board of Directors of the Brady Campaign. Email activist campaigns have made all the difference in local advocates’ ability to build momentum to help pass strong gun laws – or defeat bad ones.

The "bust" pictures? Hand grenades and RPGs are sold at gun shows all over the country. They could be sold by private sellers who may or may not require background checks.

Some times you have to quit digging when you are in a hole. I guess this lady never figured that out

This is Joan Peterson from Duluth, she is one of the folks who are locally affiliated with CSM, sponsered by the national Brady campaign. Her sister was tragically murdered and she is now on a mission to lash out against "somebody". She is unlikely to respond positively to gun owners. :(

She will be trolling for comments she can publish to demonstrate that some gun advocates can appear to be unreasonable/illogical. So, be aware of the issues and treat her gently I think. It's not a real debate.

The same.

An honest approach would be for her to make clear that she was not a simple housewife concerned about all the violence in the world, but instead was a paid operative of the Joyce Brady CSM group. If she was proud of her affilliations and thought they would bolster her credibility, she would do that.

Our spokespersons don't hide their affiliations with NRA, GOCRA, MADFI, or their certifications as instructors and then pretend to be "just folks".

She also very selectively approves comments. During one of the posts about the Carry laws in Wisconsin someone said my info was wrong and I should not listen to NRA propaganda and posted.

Quote:
" I will agree that it is a bad situation but the only option if one wants to carry a gun in WI. Under WI law there is no option to conceal a firearm."- Anthony

Totally incorrect.

That's just NRA propaganda. For the truth, try contacting the Brady Campaign.

This is a direct quote from their website:

"Two states, Wisconsin and Illinois, do not require a permit to carry concealed handguns in public while two states forbid the carrying of concealed handguns."

I actually pulled the laws and posted them and case law links. Never got approved :? Then I did some searching and found out her connection to the Bradys. She later did admit that the brady link was incorrect though

Well, domains are $12/year, and hosting is stupid cheap when you get a server, and not just paying for a single site's hosting... (I've had virtual servers for years - run usually $40-$60/month - I could run a couple hundred such sites off it with no issues)

Or just host it on any of the wordpress or blogspot sites, and add a domain.

Heck, I've got 7 domains of my own...

It's a blogger site, no hosting fees, just the domain.... ($8 a year on 1&1)
