I have a MN CCP and spend a lot of time over in WI. The NRA gave Scott a A rating so...

What do you think the chances are that I will be able to carry in WI with my MN permit by the end of 2011?

What can we do to help?

It sure would be nice if this happened. I travel to Green Bay quite a bit (and it has nothing to do with football), and I would love to be able to carry in Wisconsin.

Well, first the legislature will have to write the law and pass the law up to his desk.... Not much that Scott Walker can do before it hits his desk.
The previous legislature has sent the law to the Gov's desk twice before, and almost overrode a veto... The new legislature is more conservative than the last.

From my friend involved with WI open carry, they are pushing for constitutional carry.

They seem to be doing fine, and if they want my advice, they can have it, but they would probably be better off if they just cut-and-pasted the MCPPA, and then removed the requirement for getting a permit.

To my way of thinking, Alaska-style "shall issue, but you don't need a permit" is better than Constitutional Carry. YMMV.

Yup. It looks like the only way it isn't going to happen is if the proponents don't settle on a (possibly hybrid, compromise) bill.

Looks like Wisconsin is headed in the right direction. Do you think Illinois will follow?

Not likely, to my mind- Chicago liberals pretty much own the IL legislature. Something to do with their territory having more population that the rest of the state...

To answer my own question. Law goes into effect 11/1/11. Will have to wait and see if MN makes their list.
