A friend of mine told me that he was thinking about getting his permit, but didn't want to because he red in the star trib a few years ago about a permit holder who had their permit suspended for a year for being in a posted store. He couldn't remember any other details. I have been doing some internet searching and haven't found anything about it. Anyone remember the case or any details, I told him I'd try and find some answers for him.

There'd have to be more to it than that- the only penalty for "being in a posted store", assuming the permit holder in question was dumb enough to refuse to leave, and then wait for the cops to show up, is a $25 petty misdemeanor citation for a first offense.

This sounds like a fairy tale. Tell your friend to contact a carry instructer and discuss his situation. Even if it were true, which it's not, it's no reason for him not to get a carry permit. He sounds like he doesn't want to, or knows he's prohibited, and does not want to say that to you.
Don't waste your time I think.
