The company policy forbids firearms, ammo, etc on company property, even in parking areas. There are also areas of the property where Federal law applies and it would not be a good thing. I decided when I got my permit that I would not carry or have firearms in my truck when I go to work.

(My secret fear is that I would forget to take something out of my pockets and set off the metal detector, that would put an end to my job/career REAL quick.)

This happened to me around 1992 by the Maplewood PD. I was living in an apt. off 36. Had a loud argument with my GF at the time. Paranoid neighbor called the PD. PD came in guns drawn. They said they had to control the scene and started searching around asking if I had any firearms in the apt. I replied that I had a shotgun in the bedroom closet. They confiscated it claiming some bullshit cool down period. I call them the next day and the Chief said straight up they wouldn't give it back. I had our family attorney write a formal request, supported by statute why they couldn't do what they were doing, that we would take action if they refused to return it. The Chief replied with a letter stating the weapon was destroyed.

I really loved that Mossberg 500. It killed many a duck before the Maplewood PD stole it from me.... That still pisses me off to no end.

Same thing happened to me by the Duluth PD. In my experience, the beat cops here are cool, but the administration is f'ing crooked as hell.

I will try and find the letter. It's likely packed away in a box in the garage but it's time to do some spring cleaning. There was an interesting statement in it about it being their policy not to release any guns back onto the street. /boggle

Yes, Virginia, the Maplewood Police Department is infested with jackbooted door-kickers.

I'll have to post my story about the Maplewood thugs some time when I can do it without getting too agitated.
