Well, a lot of us are baby boomers and we have the GUNS, NUMBERS, AND MONEY now. If you're bored at work, how much fun would it be to call up the Republican fundraising organization once a day and beat them into the ground over this issue?? What's their 800 number??
Why change a winning plan? It's already become aggravating to the poor fundraisers -- let's see if we hear something useful before election season starts.

We just might.

While that will be nice (and absolutely expected) my hope is that they will meet their commitments NOW.

What will make me unhappy is if they wait for the election cycle to go into full swing and then pander in an effort to get our votes (and money).

Fool me once shame on you…Fool me twice shame on me!

Me, too. I also hope to win the lottery, and get that call from Valerie Bertinelli. I think I've got more chance with Lotto, and about the same with Ms. B.

I got the same letter from Rep. Zellers. He is not asking for contributions to the MN GOP. He is asking for contributions to his own re-election campaign.

Rep. Zellers received an "A-" rating from the NRA and an "A" from GOCRA last year. This legislative session, he co-authored Rep. Cornish's Stand-Your-Ground bill. Also, I think it's unfair to hold Rep. Zeller's responsible for the actions, or inactions, of the Governor.

Who's saying anything about being fair? The fact that the Gov's fu ... um, foul-up is costing him should seriously piss him off and make him want to call the Gov and say "You're problems are costing my campaign money. You need to fix this mess now!" After the fifth or sixth rep. calls the Gov we might see some action.

OTOH, given that I have gotten no response whatsoever from Rep. Zellers and nothing beyond the auto-reply "we got your mail" from the gov tells me that the fire is not yet hot enough.

I'm with Bruce on this one. (That said, I'll make an exception for Pat Pariseau, Tony Cornish, and a very few others.)

Why be just a minor annoyance, when with a little professionalism and organization you could be a major PITA???

Right now they're just slogging through the background noise and trying to keep going. If the background noise starts coming AFTER them, the fund raising effort could grind to a halt, and THAT would force the point before the election. It's just a thought, and the managment in here has much more experience dealing with this than I do, but for those of us with time on our hands, where's the downside??

I know a group who got slow-rolled by the Pawlenty Administration, and all they got was a lousy sigline.

Is returning the favor the idea?

Well I finally got my call tonight, on my cell phone, during dinner (with my mom and sister, here from the East Coast). The poor dear just did not seem to get it. She said who she was why she was calling and I interuppted her to say that until Gov. Pawlenty fixed the reciprocity mess (I went into a little more detail) the Republican GOP would not get "one thin dime of my money".

She said she understood I was upset, and that this was something that needed to be worked on at which point I interrupted her again to say that it was not something that needed to be worked on, it was something that needed to be fixed.

She agreed and said that she understood I was upset but with the close race in somewhere they really needed, so I interrupted again to point out that the governor pissed off 50,000 oh, wait we're over 53,000 permit holders now, and that once he got on the horn with the AG and told her to fix the reciprocity problem I would be happy to donate again.

She agreed that something needed to be done but could I see my way clear to donating, at which point I interrupted again to say that no, until the gov made good on his election promise and told the AG to start obeying the law, I would not donate anything. I would have been happy to go around a few more times, but my mother was making "hang up" noises, so I bid her a pleasant evening and hung up.

But the exchange of pleasantries did make me feel good.

As I've only lived in MN for 7 months, I wasn't here for the last election. Can somebody give me a quick summary of what promise was made by Governor Pawlenty that he failed to enforce once he was elected?

Thanks.

I almost cackled with glee when I answered the phone the other night and it was a fundraiser for Norm. Unfortunately, My caller had a room temperature IQ.

I explained the promise and how easy it would be to fix. She was confused. "Sir, I'm calling for Coleman, not Pawlenty"

That's great says I. Have Norm or his campaign ask the Good Gov to fulfill his promise and I'd be happy to donate my family's $100 on the day after the announcement comes out and the website gets changed.

"Sir, I don't know about that issue but it has nothing to do with ... And we really need your help."

Tell you what, write down Campaign promise, Reciprocity, MCPPA, NOT A DIME UNTIL IT'S FIXED. Your bosses either already know what it means or they will. there are 50,000+ people in this state in the same boat.

Good evening.

Received in email yesterday...

***********************************************************

Dear Ms. *******:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding domestic energy development and the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008 (S. 3606). While we may disagree about this climate change bill, we do agree on the importance of protecting American jobs and the need for us to develop our domestic energy resources.

I believe Congress has the opportunity to act boldly to address our energy security crisis in the near term, which is why I recently introduced a bill, the Energy Resource Development Act of 2008 (S. 3126). S. 3126 calls for diversifying America's energy portfolio to take advantage of the United States' many domestic fuel resources by opening up sections of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) for oil and gas development, fully funding the nation's renewable energy and energy technology programs, developing coal-to-liquid technology, and boosting our nuclear energy production.

To begin with, S. 3126 would open up the OCS to oil and gas development outside of Florida in a way that protects the environment and economy of states in new development areas. There are an estimated 18 billion barrels of crude oil and 77 trillion cubic feet of natural gas that could be produced in areas currently under moratoria. If developed, this could reduce America's trade deficit by $145 billion by offsetting oil imports. The federal proceeds of this new development would fund a new Energy Independence Trust Fund that would fully fund all renewable energy, energy efficiency, research and development, and technology deployment programs from the last two omnibus energy bills, the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence Security Act of 2007. Additionally, the fund will provide resources for a new ethanol pipeline loan guarantee program and fund new nuclear energy production incentives.

My proposal would also invest in coal-to-liquid fuel and nuclear energy. S. 3126 will utilize our 250 year supply of coal by creating a new standard for the production of fuel from clean coal, often called coal-to-liquid technology, while ensuring that the latest, cleanest technology is used during its production. Meanwhile, one of the cleanest energy technologies available is nuclear, and this legislation would accelerate the resurgence of nuclear energy production in the United States by improving the loan guarantee program for nuclear production, creating a nuclear production tax credit, and increase training for the nuclear workforce.

I sincerely believe that we can solve the energy crisis we are facing if America takes bold action to utilize the domestic resources at its disposal. I believe the Climate Security Act empowers Americans to transform our energy sector by pushing clean energy technologies forward such as clean coal, nuclear, cellulosic ethanol, and wind. Meanwhile, to help families and businesses transition to clean energy and to help energy consumers, both families and businesses, with their energy costs, many of the allowances, which are permits to emit carbon dioxide, are needed to comply under the cap-and-trade system are given out for free.

However, I believe this bill needs to be improved to better protect energy consumers, which is why I offered several amendments during floor consideration, including a proposal to protect Americans at the pump. My amendment creates a Fuel Assistance Fund that would lower federal fuel taxes by an amount equal to increases in the price of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel caused by the bill. Together with the $900 billion in the bill for low income tax cuts, this amendment could bring the bill's tax cuts for energy consumers to about $1.8 trillion by 2050 should prices escalate.

I always appreciate hearing from you, and you can be sure I will continue my commitment to freedom from foreign oil.

Thank you once again for contacting me. If I may be of further assistance to you in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

Sincerely,
Norm Coleman
United States Senate

As I said before MONEY TALKS. When the political parties and pollititians realize that people are holding back contributions in response to their being slighted by the Gov., they will have little recourse but to press the Gov.

Hats off to fellow forum members for standing your ground. 8)
