"I explained the promise and how easy it would be to fix. She was confused. "Sir, I'm calling for Coleman, not Pawlenty"

I wrote Coleman requesting he consider extending the FFDO program to other professional pilots in addition the airlines pilots. The sound of his total non-response was deafening, as is my resoponse to fund raising efforts on his behalf. Hank.

Hats off to fellow forum members for standing your ground. 8)

I just got a political contribution form in the mail today. I gave the Republican Party of Minnesota a call and told them the $50 they were getting from me (that is the max amount I can get reimbursed for) is all they will be getting until the Governor fixes the reciprocity issues. I said I would gladly donate more if I didn't have to pay more for all the extra permits and training I need just to get the same reciprocity as I should be getting with my Minnesota permit. The guy said it was an issue to take up with the Governor's office. I think I just might......

Others may with to mention that it *has* been brought up. Several time. By different people. Very vocally.

But hey, one more letter to the gov, can't hurt.

Don't give it to the party. Give it to specific candidates who fight for our issues. Tony Cornish comes to mind.

Red Sharpie. For the red cent. And for the red state we are not, due to things like reciprocity.

After a bit of research, I've decided to send my donation his way. A big part of my decision is the campus carry bill he introduced. Someday students won't be like fish in a barrel, until then, we need more representatives like Tony Cornish.

So how do I go about donating my $50 to him? And more importantly, getting it back? I found his address at the capital, would this be ok?

Assistant Minority Whip
Tony Cornish (R) 24B
281 State Office Building
100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Saint Paul, Minnesota 55155

I figure I'll throw in a nice letter thanking him for his support for campus carry and gun rights in general.

Political contributions should be sent to their HOME address:

Rep. Tony Cornish
P. O. Box 128
Good Thunder, MN 56037

I just got off the phone with a lovely young lady who was calling to raise money for Coleman's legal fees for the upcoming recount court battle. I told her that until Gov. Pawlenty kept the promise that he made to the Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance before his last election and fixed the problems with permit to carry reciprocity by telling the DPS to actually start obeying the law, I would not give one thin dime to the party, but as soon as Gov. Pawlenty kept his promise and told the Department of Public Safety to start following the law I would be happy to contribute.

She said "I understand, thank-you for your time."

This time it was a letter from Bill Pulkrabek the Chairman of Republican House District 55B. I am going to send him the exact same letter I sent Mr. Zellers.

You know, when Tim leaves office we are going to have to change our rhetoric.

I am not going to donate one thin dime to the party until Gov. Jones keeps Gov. Pawlenty's promise. This will be especially effective if Gov. Jones is DFL. (evil chortle as I contemplate the exchange):
Quote:
Caller: Hi! I'm calling on behalf of the MN GOP asking for your support during this critical juncture . . .

Me: I'm sorry, but I am not giving one thin dime to the GOP until Gov. Jones keeps the promise that Gov. Pawlenty made in 2006.

Caller: But, but, but, Gov. Jones is a Democrat!

Me: I do believe you are correct. Isn't it a shame that this problem wasn't fixed back when a Republican was governor. CLICK.

I agree, don't send to the state Party, send to individual politicians that support what you believe in. Cornish is a good example.

Also, if you're planning on making a PCR contribution this year, do it before June 30th.

Republicans propose killing the program every year, but I was chatting with a legislator yesterday. He said that due to the deficit the Democrats are actually considering it this year.

So make your contributions now and make them to the people that actually deserve it.
