FYI- There is a 'urban legend' floating around about the multiple handgun purchase report that FFL's have to fill out. The myth is that the form is only for 2 or more of the same type/model of handgun.

Title 18, 923 (G) (3) (A), clearly states any combination:
Quote:
Each licensee shall prepare a report of multiple sales or
other dispositions whenever the licensee sells or otherwise
disposes of, at one time or during any five consecutive business
days, two or more pistols, or revolvers, or any combination of
pistols and revolvers totalling two or more, to an unlicensed
person.

I have never heard it said that it had to be two or more of the same model, just as the section quoted, two or more of any combination of handguns. Also does not apply to a handgun + long gun for example.

More people should know this so that they can decide for themselves if they want to wait a week for that 2nd gun . :)

One of the permit students I had last Fall noted during the class that he had "often" bought multiple handguns and "never" had any issue etc. Then, about two weeks ago he called and said that a BATF person showed up at his residence and, very politely and professionally, simply inquired if he still had all three of the handguns he had purchased in a multiple purchase event. He answered "yes" and was waiting for the agent to ask to see them, but that was it...conversation ended. Agent left.

Yeah as soon as the ATF gets to it.

I called the atf the other day asking about relicensing to a Class 06 license - basically they told me not to bother as there is no way that I would get approval - other than that they were helpful....

Tax dollars at work.
