MILWAUKEE (AP) - A 15-year-old boy was beaten to death near a bus stop today, and police have been seeking four or five males believed to have been involved.

Police say the boy was severely beaten about 1:50 p.m., and he died about 3 p.m.

Milwaukee Public Schools spokesman Phil Harris says the victim was a seventh-grade student at Malcolm X Academy.

He says the boy had been given an early release from school because of a doctor's appointment, and he was waiting at a bus stop near the school when he was attacked.

MPS officials planned to give a letter to the families of all the students in the school about the incident.

Harris says the school puts a priority on safety ... but it's a question of neighborhood safety.

That should not happen in Minnesota because you need to sign out a kid by an approved person. They would not just release a teen without a proper sign out.
