Handgun safety courses offered
Eden Prairie, Minnesota
Submitted by Karla on April 30, 2009 - 12:33pm

South Metro Public Safety is offering two upcoming classes on handgun and firearm safety. The first is set for 6-10 p.m. May 6 and 7 and is for men and women. Cost of $85 covers the cost of instruction, range time, ammunition, simulator training and more.
The second class is 6-10 p.m. June 16 and 18 and is for women only. Cost is the same.

“Both these programs provide a hands-on experience in firearms safety for people who are new gun owners, are thinking of purchasing a firearm for personal safety or just want to learn the basics of handling a firearm. Participants will: learn important safety procedures for the handling of pistols and use of a firearms range; become familiar with different types of pistols, parts and operation; learn about proper use of ammunition; learn techniques for loading and unloading firearms; practice pistol stance, grip and use of sights; use live ammunition in indoor firing range with assistance from firearms instructors; practice shooting using a police firearms simulator and become informed about state laws and procedures regarding the purchase and carrying of a hand gun,” according to a news release.

South Metro is a joint project of the Cities of Bloomington, Eden Prairie and Edina and the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport Police Department.

The facility provides a variety of police and fire training opportunities in a 28,000 square foot, two-building campus on a 3 1/2 acre site. It is conveniently located in the northeast corner of Hwys 169 and 494.

Components of the training facility may be rented. For further information, consider the menu bar for facility features and rental rates.

ETA: opps, this should have gone into General Gun Discussions. My bad.
