Post subject:  1911 Handling Course

Hello all,

Newb here (newb to the forum that is). For many years I've carried DA and DAO semi autos, both on the job (private contractor for investigation, etc) and off. I've recently purchased a 1911 and, before relying on it or carrying it full time I'd like to take a handling/familiarization class.

The reason for this is that, regardless of the DA or DAO semi I've used in the past it takes very little time ( a couple reloads, a couple clearing and holstering practice sessions) before I feel comfortable with it. I think this is due to the fact that the similarities between the various models of these types allows muscle memory to "overlap" models.

I've done two range trips with the 1911 and have purchased a cheap UM paddle holster for at home, empty gun, holstering and dry firing, reloading drills. The switch to the 1911 has not been as seamless as I had hoped. I'm feeling better about it but would like to spend some time with a pro for issues like, clearing stoppages, handling techniques, carrying techniques, etc. Hopefully a little advice on holster selection as well.

So, if you offer classes or know someone who does, I would appreciate a reply or pm.

Thank you.
