Is there some kind of shortage? John at the Gunstop seems to think so, he's been out/backordered for over a month now. I haven't looked anywhere else but Midway (which I've never ordered primers from, the hazmat fee is too high), but they seem to be out, too.

Everybody loves a good conspiracy.

Winchester makes Triple 7 primers for inline muzzeloaders. Supposedly "hotter'. NOT! Something wrong with them. Giving misfires and only about half the pop on the ones I had. Regular winchester 209s worked OK for my inline. Don't hunt with these!

What did you pay? I'm looking for 2-3 cases.

What about a group buy?

I am not interested in any Federal primers at this time, but on other forums a local group will get together and buy large quantities of items. You will save on the haz mat fee and maybe someone with a C&R can get an even better price.

Large order, get together later to split the spoils and save a few bucks.

Just a thought.

I don't pay attention to the price. I need them and got them. You need to clarify terms? A case means what? If you mean case equals a sleeve of 5K or does a case mean 1K box to you? If you need 15K of primers, I would look at Powder Valley http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/ That would make the Haz Mat and shipping look not so bad!

I can get a decent price out of Graf's with my C&R. Fed150's are $86.50/5000

HazMat fee is $20 for up to 50 lbs.

Looking for 9mm, 45, .308 and .243 primers myself.

I would assume that there would be no problem with a mixed order of Federal, Winchester, CCI, or what ever primer brand, I guess the 50 lbs. would be the limiting factor.

Man, 50 lbs. is a lot of primers.

We can mix more than one brand in a package

Yop, 50lbs is the magic number.

Works on powder as well. No individual package may be over 8 pounds.

But I believe you cannot mix primers and powder in the same shipping container, they have to be ship separate of each other with separate haz mat fees.

Unless it is loaded ammunition, then no haz mat fees apply. The same politician that wrote that law must have written the law in Minnesota as to what is a legal handgun cartridge in a shotgun zone.

It depends on the UPS contract the vendor has as to how much can be shipped, some will mix powder and primers in the same package. Just have to be specific to the vendor.

Powder Valley ships
WE CAN COMBINE UP TO 48 LBS. OF POWDER AND PRIMERS UNDER ONE HAZMAT TO SAVE YOU MONEY. IF SENDING FUNDS IN ADVANCE, PLEASE CALL FOR ASSISTANCE IN CALCULATING YOUR AMOUNT.

Went to SW in Woodbury this afternoon. They had 1 box ie 1K of Fed 150, about 23.00 per K that was 100ct price extrapolated so to speak. Do not know if they had more in back as I did not ask.

That figures out to $115 for 5K.

Compared to Graf's at $86.50 I think we could save us all a bit of change going in on a bulk order
