I am just getting into reloading and want to do it as cheaply as possible. I know I can shoot lead bullets but I am a bit of a hypochondriac and am sure I will get cancer and die within days

I saw these: http://www.precisionbullets.com/ and was thought they seemed to be relatively inexpensive.

They also would be a lot cleaner than lead which is a big plus because I am not too fond of cleaning either. :)

Any thoughts?

edit: I would be starting with .45ACP

Have you seen Berry's plated bullets. They are a cast bullet copper plated. I get them from Cabelas and they work ok. I run them close to the bottom of the chart. Hope that helps.

I have but I was under the impression that they were a lot more expensive. I guess I had my math wrong though cause 2000 would only be $167.92 whereas the precision bullets would be $166.20.

I will try those out as soon as I save up enough for the equipment. Thanks!

Never buy bullets in person at Cabelas, you pay the tax and gas. Plus if buying a lot, then have the UPS staff bring to your door. For plated bullets Berrys is best bought from Cabelas. If you want lead perhaps
your best source is Leo Dwyer down by Fairbault. If you want jacketed bullets google Precision Delta, and they are hard do beat for prices especially delivered to your door! The Gunstop carry's Leo's lead bullets.

If you ordered them in any way, you will pay sales tax, delivered by UPS or not.

You will not be charged sales tax if the business is not in Minnesota. So you can order from businesses like Brownells, which does not have a store front in Minnesota, then no sales tax is charged.

But you mentioned Cabela's, and if you make a phone or internet order from Cabela's or any other business that has a store front in Minnesota, you will be charged sales tax.

If that order was straight from Cabelas, but the way I understand it, they screwed up, they are suppose to charge you Minnesota sales tax if the order is being shipped to Minnesota.

Edited to update - Just talked to Cabela's and if your order is placed from a distribution center, there is no sales tax charged. They are currently in a court battle with some states on this because the states says they have to. So buying from a business that has a store front in Minnesota may have already lost this suit, or did not want to fight it, but they do charged sales tax.

So get your ordering done while you can from Cabela's, this freebie may cease.

Another update on the sales tax.

I talked to another Cabelas Rep and and they said yes, you are charged sales tax on a mail order shipped to Minesota. They promised to get back to me on this and if prfwad could provide the actual receipt to me off line, Cabelas said they may be interested in seeing it, but again, they said that they would get back to me on this.

If prfwad's situation is correct, there may be several here that deserve a tax refund from Cabela's.

We will see and I will update.

it seems they're cheaper from the manufacturer, including shipping than at Cabelas.

See here: www.berrysmfg.com

Just ordered 1,000 .38s Apparently, orders over $50 ship free.

I'll update if I have problems.
