Oh MAN! The 686 lists for $766 on S&W's Web site. I've been looking for a good deal on a revolver for IDPA. I went right over there. They've got 2 of the 686s left. They've clearly got some miles on them but they felt pretty nice to me. The triggers were a lot lighter than my Ruger SP101. The guy at the counter said they were retired from a PD in Iowa.
Trouble is I'm broke! And I dropped off my dead laptop at First Tech on the way to work today. It's out of warranty of course. The credit card companies are making way too much off me already. And I might need to hire a plumber this weekend. Etc. etc. etc.
Oh the painnnnnn! I might change my mind yet and go back.

They had 4 there this morning at 9 am, 3 out and 1 in back with no grips. They said they got in 6 of them on Tuesday, sold 2 and had the 4 left when I stopped in this morning.

This truly would be a great deal ( depending on condition ) for a 686. They are a great looking piece with the full underlug.

One less available now, there was only the one in the display case, I didn't ask if they had more though.
Absolutely perfect mechanically, tight lockup, great timing and a trigger pull that makes butter jealous some noticeable holster wear but thats what we call charachter around these parts.
Hoping someone may have a holster for it at the swap tonight!
