We happended onto a couple hogs that we are raising the same way as we raise everything else around our place - growth, hormone & antibiotic free with as much of the animals natural feed, low stress, and high fresh air as possible (geez - I sound like a pita commerical)

If you are interested in a quarter, half or whole hog let me know - We will be keeping one, but are offering the other for sale (Quarter, Half, Whole). This will be ready around the mid August timeframe. You have the option of having them cut and packed and cured as you like. Basically I'll meet you for delivery and payment with a cooler full of freezer wrapped pork.

Unless feed goes through the roof we are expecting a price of $2.75 a pound (cut and wrapped - basically you pay for the number of pounds of finished meat you get).

A whole hog is around 250-270 pounds, about a third of which is waste (bones etc.).

I have been told but many that the taste of pork raised in this fashion is much better then the store bought pork.

PM me if interested.

Take care

Mostly-

Will you be selling by the cut or just the quarter/half/etc? I bought a loin not too long ago so I have plenty of chops, but if you are getting some made into bacon, I'd be interested in 10lbs or so of bacon.

I'll take any Bacon left over. MMMM good. Our child care provider was so happy with the price and the taste she made us up a little care package. Thick cut bacon, Pork Steaks, and Chops.

Let me tell you, THICK, CRISP bacon, even when eaten cold on a BLT is DELICIOUS :-)

Thanks Mostly, that was tasty!

even though it means I'll have to do a clean-out job on the freezer, I'll take a quarter as well...

can you give me an idea of cut and cure options?

I picked up a quarter from Mostly and am very happy with the deal.

Mostly, if you do this again, let me know and I'll take another quarter, or maybe even a half this time.

I picked up a half and so far everything has been superb. I'll be eating Piglet for a long time though. Definitely interested in doing something like this again.

Okay, I'm in for a quarter -- that's about 40-45 pounds, right? How much freezer space is that? :)

Mostly,

We'll take a half if there is still that much left, if not a quarter.

It fits into a standard size cooler pretty easily - so fits in a standard freezer (after a cleanout)
