The not-all-that-funny practice of using the quote function, changing what the previous user wrote, and saying "fixed it for ya."

Viewed later, it's not always clear what the original poster actually said. Changing people's words is inherently dishonest, if harmless in intent.

I heartily endorse the practice of trimming quotes to eliminate repeating multiple quotes or posts. Or even selective highlighting, to show emphasis, but changing the words of someone and calling it a quote is not right.
