Post subject:  Auto login?

Occasionally I do not automatically login (as is happening now). I can login manually and can select to automatically login but it does not automatically login the next time.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I do run Norton. (No anti Norton comments please.)

Norton is cleaning out your cookies. Not sure if there is a middle ground setting to keep cookies from some sites but not others.

As for Norton cracks, IMHO Norton is great software. I'd use it if it didn't cost so much. Charter offers it's own free internet security (like Comcast offers McAfee) and it seems pretty good.

This same thing has been happening to me for the last month and half or so. Only does it on one of my computers so I figured it had to do with some software running on the one computer. I run Norton on both, but probably different versions. Frustrating. I learned that by double clicking on the empty login box, a drop down will open with my user i.d., and then it auto populates my password. I've just gotten used to these two extra clicks every time I log in during the day.

I started having probs yesterday on a non-Norton computer. Could it be something else?

My auto login works fine on my laptop but not on my desktop. Same internet connection. Desktop is wired. Laptop is wireless.

Thanks for the help so far.

Weird. Regardless it would have to do with cookies. If the cookie(s) are deleted that contain your log in info you will not be able to auto log in. I autolog from home without a problem. Everywhere else I make sure I get signed in and out.

The usual, though not bulletproof, advice is to clear all Tcc related cookies and log back in. It's like "have you rebooted" in the world of desktop support.

I auto-log into a number of gun-related-sites from this same computer and the only site that has been exhibiting this issue for me is TCcarry, but again, only on this one computer. In other words, why would norton or some other software delete cookies for just this one site?

I had seen this advice before, but how does one exactly do that? I see the "clear cookies" option in my Tools but that's going to wipe out all of the cookies stored in my I.E. -- not just tcc's. How do I just clear tcc's cookies?

Thanks,

In firefox: Tools->Options->Security-> Show Cookies and then selectively delete. While there, I usually nuke anything ad related or that I don't regularly use and recognize.

Another idea is to use FIrefox or IE(not sure if it does this, haven't used it for a couple years) to store your login info. Depending on how you set it up it can be more secure or equally convenient but not cookie dependent.

Anti Norton comment: I run Debian.

Auto log on this forum failed about a month ago, and has continued. It works everywhere else.

And now, after about 6 weeks, it works fine. :?:

I never had this auto login failure that others mention, on any of the 4 different computers I used to check the forum.
