Hmmm... their crowd was bigger than the time before; maybe this time there'll be twelve. :)

I'll be there with better camera batteries than last time, I only got three pictures when even my backup batteries were dead.

Film at 11!

I'm thinking.

Pathetic.......(Arousing or capable of arousing scornful pity).

Me, too...assuming there is more than a day's notice, if at all possible. My boss tends to frown on random no-shows. :)

I bet you're right Dean! Maybe we should invite a member of the press to join us and explain why the Mommies are insane?

They brought a "decked out" Ruger Mini-14.

Greg was going to do photography again this year, but he got called out of town. Anybody willing to take a camera, go up and get good photos of this? We can reliably count on the MSM types to shoot pictures that are carefully framed to make the crowd look larger than it is; we really should have some accurate ones.

I found this: It is a felony to possesses a dangerous weapon, ammunition, or explosives within any courthouse complex or in any state building within the Capitol Area except permit holders who so notify the sheriff or the commissioner of public safety, as appropriate.

So, do I need to send a letter or phone the commissioner of public safety to carry a pistol on the Capitol grounds?

Send a letter. Since they no longer send replies, some find it advisable to send it registered.

Sgt. Parker told me:
Quote:
Physical written notification by letter is necessary. A photo copy of
your permit should be included with your letter.

when asked about turnaround:
Quote:
Once you have sent the letter in wait for approximately two weeks, you
can then call our office at 651-296-0398 and asked if you are on our
list.

Sgt Michael Parker
Capitol Complex Security Supervisor
Rm B5, State Capitol
St. Paul, MN 55155
651-296-0398

GOCRA used to have a template available but I can't get to their site.

If you want to get on the list in under a week, leave the gun in the car and consider dropping off a copy at Executive Protection Detail at the Capitol.

A guy in the know mentioned something along the lines of "If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you sign this copy as my receipt?"

Interesting.

I just called Capital Security dispatch desk and my name is no longer on the list.

They could not explain why, just said that he was looking at the current updated list, what ever that means...

I will have to make some more calls during business hours to find out why my name is no longer listed. Or if it is, why they could not find it at 18:30 on a Monday.

Edited to add: The letter was sent certified mail on April 12th 2006 and stamped received April 13th 2006. I was one that called to fine out why I did not receive a letter of conformation. Was informed they no longer send out letters, but to call to verify, which during that conversation it was verified that I was on the list.

Bizarre. I'm going to resend my paperwork tomorrow, if necessary.
