(edited to add my message to them -03-01-08 12:25PM)

I recently visited mnmajority.org to deal with my disgust of the recent 6.6 BILLION DOLLAR TAX INCREASE! (we all should be shouting here) I looked for their (Minnesota Majority's) stands on gun issues but was unable to find anything on their website, so I sent an email question to them. Below is the response. We need to get behind this organization, in spirit, in action, and in monetary support.

I appreciate this organizatoin... but before I send my hard earned money
and/or recommend your organization to my family and friends - what is your
position on gun control?

Are you for or against:

The website lists all manner of organizations that lobby for increased spending. There are plenty more as well, absent from this list are some big road and bridge contractors that are major Republicans.... that probably contribute to Minnesota Majority but did quietly support the overide. Funny they weren't mentioned......just the Dems.

The "infamous 6" will be well compensated later.....

But anyway, it shows what a lone taxpayer is up against when he protests the cost of vehicle registration or sales taxes. These organizations are able to provide plenty of soft money when it counts. The poor broke taxpayer who complains about the cost can't send these checks to politicains and political action committees.

I'd be interested in how they view specific legislation before I threw my support behind them. What's their position on the "Castle Doctrine" bill, or the Mandatory Gun Registration bill? It's easy to say one is for 2A, but you have to look closely at the specifics before you can believe them.

After all, Hillary has said, “I support the Second Amendment. Law-abiding citizens should be able to own guns,” but do you really think she's on our side?

I personally know some of the individuals behind this organization - VERY Conservative!

If you agree with the republican platform you will feel right at home with these folks - they are in no way enamered with watering down the platform!

Lenny7 - I forgot to add my message to them - I've edited the post and added that in. I did ask specifically about those two.

Yeah, Obama and McCain say that too. All three say they changed their mind, except of course for Common Sense gun control laws.

Since the Supreme Court, not the President, will decide the individual rights issue, they're all for that too. It must be true, we heard them say so!

Individual rights will help the anti's when the landscape changes because of individual rights, we'll need all new gun control laws, I think.

It's more important than ever to get committments to oppose gun control right now. It'll be harder after the Supreme Court case is announced and gets dicussed on all the talk shows, with all the "victims" they'll have weigh in.

"So how do you really FEEL about the Second Amendment rights of the guy who shot up your family?" "Would it be better if he didn't have a gun that day?" "Shouldn't there be a LAW against that stuff?"

I sent this letter to Jeff Davis asking for his support...

I will let you know what I learn.

Quote:
Hi Jeff,

I am sick and tired of the moronic programs and useless legislation that gets introduced, considered and passed into law. I am sick and tired of the wasted tax dollars. I've been a sheep for too long, and I am embarrassed at how little I know about the political system, but I am no longer going to sit around feeling helpless.

I want to do this: http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm on a state level so that we in Minnesota can be more vocal on the issues as they are raised. It will give folks a means to be vocal without having to send individual messages to each legislator, and it will be available as a means of notifying persons when their interests are being affected. Can this be set up on http://www.mnmajority.org? There are a lot of sportsman and gun owners out here...

I think a good bill to introduce to the legislature would be a requirement to have a good majority of constituents sign on to a bill *before* it can be formally introduced. This would mean that the legislator did their homework, and is actually representing their constituents' positions on the issue at hand. With technology of today, there is NO REASON why this can't happen fairly painlessly. What do you think about this?

Thanks!

For me the their statement of policy is totally unambiguous. I don't know if you can be clearer than that. 8)
