This is why gun owners can never give an inch.

Quote:
From the Toronto Star:

Mayor David Miller wants to close recreational shooting ranges in Toronto, along with giving the city power to block gun manufacturers and wholesalers from opening new plants or warehouses.

“Nobody can deny that the hobby directly results in people being shot and killed on the streets of our city,” Miller said of sport shooting yesterday, amid debate on a possible gun bylaw.

[…]

“. . .I don’t think there’s any defence for sports shooters any more,” Miller said, referring to the man shot in January by a stray bullet. The gun was legally owned by the man charged in the killing.

It’s a hobby that creates danger to others. Guns are stolen routinely from so-called legal owners. It’s time that we got those guns out of Toronto,” he said.

“Do we as a society value safety, or do we value a hobby that creates danger?” he asked. “Nobody can deny that hobby directly results in people being shot and killed on the streets of our city. Those are the facts. And they’re provable again and again and again.”

The only undeniable, permanent uses of firearms are self-defense against criminals and Self-Defense against Governmental Tyrants. We need guns so that we can KILL bad people. It's not a "hobby," it preservation of life.

All else is fiddle-faddle as the Mayor of Toronto makes so clear.

Huh, I've never thought of myself as a "so-called" legal gun owner.

If they personally, don't bend you over and look up your poop shoot they assume the worst! They can think beyond, (with my Mr Garison's voice) "Guns are BAD... Emm OK!"

I think we've used "so-called assault weapons" too many times, they are trying to fire back. Albeit poorly.

This is similar to the argument against motorcycles. Anti's argue that motorcycles are a hobby. People are killed using motorcycles. We shouldn't have hobbies that kill people so let's ban motorcycles.

You can substitue motorcycles, guns, SUVs or whatever else is on the hit list du jour. Reason doesn't have to apply. Only emotion counts.

If Mayor Miller had any ability to reason he might think about dealing with the criminals in his city (starting with himself!) that are grieving its citizens. William A.

Things to come in the USA in the not to distance future.
The next 4-8 years are going to be hell for any type of gun enthusist

I see more gun right loss & restrictions coming up in the next several years than in any other time in our history.

I'm just being a realist. Look who will have the power and majority in congress etc
