Post subject:  "I've never been made" and other lies

I've lost track of how many people I've seen carrying who, I suspect, all blithely believe they've never been made. It's just that, well, there is no upside for me going up to total strangers and asking them whether that's a Kel Tec or a PPS, or whether that lump on their belt is an insulin pump or the grip on a 1911.

I've seen the guy carrying something the size of a Seecamp or Kel tec, clearly printing in his back pants pocket, at the post office. People shopping. Pumping gas. That doesn't even count the doubtful cases where it was obvious that something was out of place but the shape was obscure enough that it might not have been a firearm.

If you think your mom and your S.O. are the only ones who've "made" you, you're wrong. They're just the only ones who said anything.

You get a gold star on your chart for the day.

Eh. I'm not that sure. You notice, most people don't. Most people wouldn't notice if you sprouted horns and farted sulfur.

The only people I know that look are people who carry. Cops included. I know cops that carry all the time that spot others and then some that don't. I almost always ask if I see a guy with a fanny pack what they are carrying. I get some smiles and some strange looks.

I too am guessing you're more observant than most people. You're certainly more observant than me.

If anyone has ever "made" me, they've not mentioned it. There are folks on this board who know how I carry, and who've seen me when I was carrying. Would any of you have "made" me, if you hadn't known in advance where my pistol was?

As for being made by the general public, they simply don't pay attention. Some guy walking near a school carrying a coffee cup gets a school shut down, I stood in the parking lot of a school, took my gun out, and put it in my car, and none of the dozens of teachers who were walking through the parking lot at the same time.

I made 2 guys at a church I attend sometimes. I got all giddy and realized that I like that church.

I got made at a meeting once. I caught a lady looking at another guy (she thought I was not watching her) and making a "gun in belt" gesture while nodding her head toward me.

    Thanks for that I needed the laugh!

My answer would be "SO WHAT! We are not Texas and concealing is nice but not necessary and printing is a non-issue."

You got it, besides; why hide it when you have something BBQ worthy?

I agree. I OC at the gun shows at my booth (with an empty properly strapped gun) in my Red Rattler for my nice polished SS Model 66. Most people at the show don't even see the gun or holster

Generally, sheeple aren't paying attention to peoples waistbands. People who carry, however, DO tend to notice if others are carrying.

I was out shopping with the wife, and I noticed the guy in front of us at checkout was carrying (it was pretty obvious....to me at least). My wife never noticed until I said something.

Funny story....I did get made once. I helped a woman grab a box of cereal off the top shelf at Target. While doing so, I exposed my pistol in my waistband and she noticed. She looked at me and said "I carry mine in my purse" and winked. I though that was AWESOME! 8)

I 'think' I was only made once (while concealing), by about a 4year old in Walmart... GOD did he have a loud voice as he exclaimed multiple times "That man has a GUN daddy! He did daddy - He had a GUN!"

Oh well, I'm a casual concealer, if someone sees it, oh well - security never came to throw me out and they took my money.

To my knowledge I have never been made. On several occasions I've had conversation with someone (close friends) that are just beginning to carry and the conversation went to holsters and carry techniques. When I have shown them how I carry they have seemed very suprised due to the fact they didn't have a clue I was armed. :D
