Since several of us are trying our hands at making holsters, here's my request:
Could you please take some pictures of the holsters you have and send them to me so I can post them here? I'll make a photobucket account and have them all hosted there. If you want your name associated with them, I'll credit it. Otherwise, it can be anonymous.
Ideally, Information I'd like is: holster maker, model, gun it fits, age of gear, and any special characteristics which you considered when buying it.
The idea is to get a lot of good pictures of the proportions and features that make each holster / combo work for you. If you have suggestions on making this better, I'm all ears.
What I'm looking for is something like this:
1-2) From front with pistol in, without pistol
3-4) from back with pistol, without pistol
5-6) from top with pistol, without pistol
7-8) Close up of slide guard from front
9-10) Closeup of retention strap, front, with pistol in, without pistol
11-12) Closeup of retention strap, back, with pistol in, without pistol
If you're willing, I'd also be interested in:
13-15) worn, covered, front, side, back
16-18) worn, uncovered, front, side, back
It'd also be interesting to see the rig you wear with it. i.e. Belt, holster, pistol, mag carrier, spare mag.

Sure! I think that having a single place to look for images of many holsters will help me make better ones for myself. It may also serve as a great place for people to look at features of holsters they might like to try/buy.

Not holsters, but these are pocket mag holders.
The one on the left is by Milt Sparks and the one on the right is by Gary Brommeland. I think the Sparks is a regular item for them, but the Brommeland was made for me by a special request to Gary. One of these are carried in my front left (weak side) pocket and a 4" 1911 on my right side, IWB holster.
This my preferred way of every day carry of a spare 1911 magazine.
I would be more than happy to let some of you leather smiths check them out, make measurements, or what ever is needed. There is what I consider one minor flaw with one, which I could point out if comparing the two, but again only maybe a perceived flaw.

Holster is a hand made Custom for a Ruger Super Redhawk Snub Nosed in 44 Magnum. This is similar in size to the Ruger Alaskan except chambered in .44 Mag. Nice, heavy gun
Maker: Moi
Type: IWB
Retention: Thumb Break though may remove it.
Clips: Comp Tac Standard Clips. 4" of ride height adjustability (W/o Retention strap)
