Question: If you were to buy a nice custom leather holster from an online source, would you want it to have the outline of the state it was made in?
Say, Cal., Wisc., Mass., or NY?

NOTE: the state thing was not from Srigs. It was my first jab at modifying a shield. Perhaps I threw some red herring into the brain storming process. Sorry gents.
Now if _I_ get a maker's mark ... well then, that's another story.

I'm not saying it is bad, just wondering.

I agreed with PLBark.
If it was *my* logo, that's what I would want it to look like.

I like Ree's first idea, best. Followed by Pat's. The last one of Ree's seems squished and fat. I also don't like outline aspect of it.

the squished and fat is an issue but better conforms to the 1"x1" area. maybe a shield with the "barbs" or scallops at the top. like road signs?

I do of course need it made KonaSeven, if you do this let me know.
Great ideas guys. Some very good looking stuff and much more professional than another national forum I posted this on.
Keep them coming.

Ree: That looks pretty cool! You've got some nice ideas and a good piece of software to make them look great.

Not that it's in any way my call, but I like all of them, and would be hard pressed to decide between them on design.

ree: Here's an idea (you can have the gear since you're doing the work, I just like the idea process) This one almost looks like a sideguard holster. IS there a simple way to imply a firearm in a holster with this SGH running in and out of the image? These look GREAT. Their simplicity still conveys a strong theme.

Great idea. I'll see what I can do later.
BTW, I'm using InkScape for the basic outlines. It's a free, multi-platform SVG (i.e. vector) drawing tool. And then just using an basic image editing app (e.g. Paint.NET on Windows or GraphicConverter on Mac) to do the emboss and coloring step.

I like the latest from ree (at 1:44 am)
When you make things other than holsters it is very simple but memorable.
As your business grows that image is very saleable - Trademark!
Add a hidden mfg date on your work. When we are all looking for the classic SGH work 50 years from now we want to know if we have one of the first hundred of your work!
Just my thoughts.
