Goodbye dirtbag.

Quote: MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- A Rockaway Township police sergeant's hunger for some breakfast sandwiches has cost him his job.
Sgt. Christopher Stahl pleaded guilty Monday to theft for walking out of a Quick Chek store on West Main Street in Rockaway Borough on Dec. 15, 2007 with eight breakfast sandwiches worth $29.45.
Under his sentence in state Superior Court, the 39-year-old Stahl will have to pay $100, and he loses his job.
Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said the plea "represents the fact that no one is above the law."
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said it is committed to purging, from all levels of public service, those who abuse the public trust or the taxpayers’ money.
Defense attorney Edward Bilinkas said Stahl "made a mistake and has taken responsibility."

no it was a mistake, but a mistake in taking something when the winds said its not free anymore.....
years ago, I worked for a few months at a old fashioned drug store/lunch counter/news stand....we were specifically told which cops got free food, and which ones did not. Some may say its not right, but some would say that giving a free lunch to a guy who does not gripe about making an extra pass around the store at night, or handled shoplifting cases with the store in the way the Boss liked... that worked out well for us.
For all we know, for the last 20 years that cop has been getting breakfast there for free, with the blessings of the store, and this one day he got nailed...

Eight convenience store breakfast sandwiches...
He'll be dead in a year anyway.

These lines almost push this story into the "On the Job" category.

Dean, I was thinking the same thing.

So what happens to you or I if we steal $30 of stuff from a gas station while openly wearing a pistol on our hip?
Sounds like strong arm robbery to me...

Whether he was visibly armed or not, if he was in uniform at the time I'd think there'd be a good case for abuse of power. "Everyone knows" you don't mess with cops on the job, even if they're wrong. They usually win.
It's good to see that someone held Officer Hungry accountable for his actions.
