A Mt. Pleasant police officer is placed on administrative leave with pay after an incident at the North Charleston Market Saloon early Saturday morning. A viewer told News 2 that the officer was spotted using his patrol car as a taxi service to take drunken women home.

Captain Carl Ritchie of the Mount Pleasant Police Department says according to a preliminary investigation, the officer was called over to pick the women up. The viewer says once the officer realized that someone was taking pictures of the incident, he demanded that the person turn them over. According to the viewer, if he didn’t receive the pictures he was going to wait and pull them over to get them.

Mount Pleasant Police located the officer later this morning, and brought him to police headquarters where he was given an administrative breathalyzer test, to make sure he was not drinking in the patrol car. The test registered a .00 indicating no alcohol in his system.

Officials have turned the case over to their Internal Affairs Division, to conduct a thorough investigation. They want to stress that they do not condone this type of behavior and will investigate the situation to determine what exactly happened
