Hartford Police Officer Arrested
Assault In Enfield Lands Officer In Jail

POSTED: 3:58 pm EDT July 31, 2010 — UPDATED: 4:17 pm EDT July 31, 2010

Hartford police Officer Christopher White was arrested in Enfield Friday night for assault, police said. The officer was charged with two counts each of reckless endangerment, threatening, assault, breach of peace and one count of illegal possession of a firearm while under the influence of liquor. Enfield police were not releasing details surrounding the incident. This was not the first time Officer White has been in trouble, he was arrested in 2004 by state police for a road rage incident on Interstate 91. State Police charged White with threatening, driving to harrass and intimidate and reckless endangerment in that case.

Other reports I read said:

Quote:
A Hartford Connecticut police officer was arrested and charged with multiple counts including illegal use of a firearm, threatening, assault, and breach of peace after he allegedly assaulted a guest of his “girlfriend’s” (other reports indicate it’s his ex-wife) in their home (other reports say it’s her home). The officer’s attorney says he was merely defending against what he thought was an intruder, however, the officer was placed on desk duty after a 2004 arrest in a road rage case where he was accused of pulling a gun on a motorist, though his lawyer insists that case was later dismissed.

Shades of Treptow.

All police officers are not the same, but I believe that every department larger than ten officers will have at least one who will put a stain on the badge. But the other side of the coin is that any large department will have more than one officer who has been left twisting in the wind when he didn't deserve it. This is why cops almost always try to cut another officer a break, even when it looks bad.
