... when the doorkickers, once again, kicked down the wrong door.
(As it turns out, the doorkickers went a-kicking without even having been given an address. I don't make this stuff up, you know.)

One of these days they are going to bust into an innocent house and the owner is going to put a .300 WinMag or similar into one or more of them. And then retaliation/return fire from the SWAT team and one or multiple innocent people will be dead or gravely injured.
Quote: Inspector Horne says this type of mistake doesn't happen often and accounts for a small percentage of the thousands of operations they do a year. In this case, he says surveillance officers didn't give an address of the home they were targetting. THOUSANDS OF OPERATIONS A YEAR If that number is correct then this is truly a war zone. Quote: "They gave a physical description, house with a black storm door, in front of the residence was a pick up truck. Unfortunately there was a house 5 doors away that had a black storm door with pick up in front. The officers didn't have time to determine which house was which," said Inspector Horne.
How many trucks are out parked out front of homes in the US, and how many have black painted entry doors. AMAZING

I suppose Donald Scott doesn't count, because he didn't manage to take any of them with him.

MPD conducts on the order of 400 dynamic entries per year. So, yeah, nationwide, it's thousands.

Quote: The Narcotics Division was conducting an undercover operation, responding to complaints of drug deals happening on a home on the 5400 block of Summer Street.
...
Inspector Horne...says surveillance officers didn't give an address of the home they were targetting.
...
The officers didn't have time to determine which house was which," said Inspector Horne.
Really? They had reports of a pattern of drugs being sold at the house, and the surveillance officers didn't give the bloody address, and the <strike>home-invading</strike> entry team officers didn't ask?
That's not a mistake. That's gross negligence piled on gross negligence.
If only police departments had high-tech tools like radios and telephones. They could have called and asked for the address!

What possibly could have been so urgent that calling for an address or at least calling for one of the undercover guys to show up and point out the correct house. Or a plate number on the truck parked out side, or a better description of the house. Just seems incompetent beyond words

From the way the article was written I thought that Inspector Horne was implying that this was but one of the "thousands of operations they do a year" (Philly Police). Maybe I interpreted wrongly.
Maybe they can explain their actions as just enthusiasm.
Or maybe their mantra is........GET SOME...GET SOME

When questioned, Lieutenant William "Bull" Conors of the Special Services department explained: "You've got a much better shot at them kicking in the right door if you tell 'em to look for a big thing like a truck than little things like house numbers. My guys get confused over that kinda stuff."

Joel, does that mean that these guys can't read. Maybe they are just the bullies who used to push kids around in grade school because it was the only way to get attention and respect..........certainly their grades are not going to get any attention.

If only they had officers that could be there and surveille the property.... Maybe they could call them surveillance officers... I know it's a stretch.
