Minneapolis SWAT doorkickers kick in the wrong door, terrorize family, almost get multiple people killed.

I don't make this up, you know . . .

This is the worst case scenario IMHO. Police did not check their facts before they do raids and this is what you can expect to happen. They act just like reporters not checking the "facts".

Police need to understand that doing this type of raid is unnecessary 90% of the time. All it would have taken was reverse lookup on the address to avoid two cops being shot. The home owner was lucky he was not killed. :x

"Dao Khang said his brother has been in contact with a lawyer and is considering legal action"

I hope they sue the crap out of them ... and win.

I am impressed that the homeowner hit his target. I would be so terrified I would probably miss, even with a shotgun.

Here is the quote from the AP
Quote:
Police hadn't determined whether charges would be filed against the shooter.

Shouldn't it read "City officals hadn't determined whether charges would be filed against the SWAT team officers."

Police blamed bad information for sending a SWAT team into a north Minneapolis house ...

Bad information and shoddy or no research.

Garcia told KMSP that police grabbed the family's children and shielded them during the incident.

Do you think the police grabbed and shielded the family's six children before or after bullets flew?

An aside, do SWAT teams record their operations on audio?

Several officers returned fire, but no one in the house was injured.
Anyone care to speculate on the number of rounds fired that fortunately did NOT hit the inocent family?

Shielded, or used as shields?

Or perhaps used family members to shield themselves?

I assume you mean unnecessary...

Far as I can tell, it's because all (or most) of the rounds were fired through a door.

Strong guess: the folks IDed in the warrant weren't Asian, and when the doorkickers kept tripping over (err... I mean, "rescuing") little Hmongs, eventually, somebody figured that they might actually be shooting up the wrong house.

"Ooops," they explained.

My 13 year old heard the story on the radio and said "Stupid cops, it was totally their fault." This without any prompting from me.

(Maybe, to keep the catalog of incidents easier to browse, you could change the thread title to something a little more descriptive Joel?)

clever titles aside, it does make it difficult for people to search out duplicates before posting what they think is a scoop.
