Ha! The first chick wants the guy to try to ditch the cops. "Ditch 'em....can you do that?"

It's just catch and release. I'm more than a little skeptical of the opening pravda that they were trying to deal with the problems of johns getting rolled. With two or three arrests -- and not for that -- in that area, all they're doing, at most, is moving the rollers off to another location. (Well, theoretically, they could have been doing a catch-and-release that happened to catch and release one of the hookers involved, but . . . )

That was Three's CRT Team. (=detective squad) Each precinct has such a team, and they concern themselves with crimes that don't require Downtown's attention, like property crime, petty drug dealing, and yes, prostitution. I've met a few of Three's guys, and they seem a pretty competent bunch. To get on a CRT, you must have already made Sergeant, so they have been around the block some.

When attention is paid to sweeps like this, it's to do "quality of life" policing. If things like obvious street prostitution is allowed to flourish, it supports an atmosphere where BGs are more willing to try more serious crimes. So the thinking goes, anyway.
