Was told may be up to 40 before it even gets mailed out, but he couldn't check if it had been - Too busy.
Guess I'll just have to wait since they have us by the short hairs...

They have something by the short hairs but it likely isn't yours... Not a good thing to hear tho, I have been waiting 28 days so far

Ok, even though Joel and I alluded to this in a different forum, here's why we're asking "Who was your instructor?":

MN Statue 624.714 (this WAS covered in your class, right?)
Quote:
Subd. 6. Granting and denial of permits. (a) The sheriff must, within 30 days after the date
of receipt of the application packet described in subdivision 3:
(1) issue the permit to carry;
(2) deny the application for a permit to carry solely on the grounds that the applicant failed to
qualify under the criteria described in subdivision 2, paragraph (b); or
(3) deny the application on the grounds that there exists a substantial likelihood that the
applicant is a danger to self or the public if authorized to carry a pistol under a permit.
(b) Failure of the sheriff to notify the applicant of the denial of the application within 30 days
after the date of receipt of the application packet constitutes issuance of the permit to carry and
the sheriff must promptly fulfill the requirements under paragraph (c).

Note the bold. That's why that receipt page exists in the packet.

I'd love to hear the HCSO's response to having that thrown back in their faces.

To be fair - the vast majority of the time they are spot-on. A couple times when they haven't been, it was the Post Office's fault.

Yes, my instructor did review that part of the process. BUT, do most LEO's know about this? Carrying the receipt page wouldn't be enough - In fact, it says "THIS RECEIPT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A PERMIT TO CARRY A PISTOL."
My guess, if stopped, one would at least be arrested.....
