Anyone know what the turn-around time for Anoka Cty is for a new application for CCW? Friend of mine just turned it in yesterday, and is anxious to be able to buy a Springfield XD(M) .40, and doesn't want to wait the 30 days if he doesn't have to. I know in Carver (where I live), it only took 9 days to receive, and that was even over Christmas (Thanks Sheriff Bud!)

From what I know your friend will wait about the full 30 days

If all he wants to do is to purchase the gun before the permit to carry arrives, have him apply for a Permit to Purchase. That is a 7 day wait and no fee. (He may need to pick it up.) He can also have the gunshop hold the gun for the seven days and have them send the paperwork through. Most gunshops prefer (require?) the Permit to Purchase so they don't need to do the paperwork, but it can be done that way too.

Although, the Sheriff may just issue the Permit to Carry in the 7 days so he doesn't need to do the extra work to issure the Permit to Purchase. Very little additional work for the Permit to Carry versus Permit to Purchase.

He's already taken the course, and applied. I'm trying to get him to join this forum since there's so much great information here. However, he "doesn't want his name out there". He's a little paranoid that way....lol.

It may be between 26 to 33 days. My girlfriend's only took 26 days until she got hers. I called them on day 31 and they stated they were sending it in the mail that day, which was on a Monday. I got it two days later making it 33 days.

If I counted correctly, Anoka took 31 days for mine.

O don't know if the renewals get a different schedule, but I just recieved my renewal in 21 days.

Oddly enough, unlike most other posts I have seen, I got 3 days added.

Apparently! :D

I looked forward to see if the day (five years out) would have been a weekend or sunday to see if thats why the changed date, but that's not the case.

As I have read here 'over and over again', trying to make sense of the operations of the local LEO will end up in a terrrible headache.

Well, today is day 30, and to date he hasn't received it (but the mail hasn't come either). My guess is the Sheriff is postmarking it today, so he'll receive it later this week or early next week. Playing games....

Mine was mailed just in time for me to receive it exactly 30 days from the day I applied. It will probably be in today's mail. Same with another friend who applied on the same day as I did
