Quite some years ago (10? 15?), I left the NRA after a series of disappointments shortly after Wayne LaPierre took over. These had to do with Wayne's hyperbole and what I then saw as fundraising techniques that utilized inappropriate scare tactics without any real basis in fact (Well, even in retrospect they were pretty awful).

So, forum members, I now ask these questions:
  • Has the NRA improved, particularly in the area of treating members like adults?
  • Is the NRA the best RKBA organizaiton? If not, who is the best are they and why are they better?
  • Do you believe that money and time is better spent on Minnesota issues or national issues at this point?

  • Has the NRA improved, particularly in the area of treating members like adults? Not sure
  • Is the NRA the best RKBA organizaiton? If not, who is the best are they and why are they better? They are the largest and most influential and have best lobbyists
  • Do you believe that money and time is better spent on Minnesota issues or national issues at this point? Need to cover all fronts we don't want to lose ground on any of them.

1. No. 2. Yeah, because they're the 800 pound gorilla. Bitch about them all you want -- Joe Olson does, and with good reason -- but keep your membership current. 3. Yes. :) If you want your money to do the most work, contribute the first twenty bucks to NRA, and the rest to GOCRA. Contribute your time as you think wise, but listen to GOCRA/Joe, and other, lesser local lights.

IMHO, and all.

Make sure to support the local guys. They always show up when they can. The national people only sometimes show up to help. Having said that Gun Owners of America have been kicking butt and taking names of late.
