Hopefully she will use the time off wisely and join Toastmasters.

Late Night Jokes from Newsmax.com
The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien
● President Obama is taking a historic trip — He's in Russia. Obama went there because from Russia, you can actually see Sarah Palin cleaning out her office in Alaska.
● Over the weekend, Sarah Palin shocked the country by resigning as governor of Alaska. Republicans aren’t sure who is going to fill her role in the party, but they are in talks with several of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
● In her resignation speech, Sarah Palin said she polled her children on whether she should resign and the count was unanimous. Ladies and gentlemen, even her children thought she was in over her head.
● South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford returned to work today after spending a holiday weekend in Florida with his wife and children. Or as Sanford called the weekend, “a total waste of time.”

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
● The big news: Sarah Palin quitting as governor of Alaska. Everybody was shocked. Even John McCain was surprised. He was like, "Who?"
●Palin hasn't made a decision this controversial since deciding whether to wear her hair up or down.
● Don't worry, though. Alaska will be fine. According to the state's Constitution, the job automatically goes to the lieutenant governor — Chilly Willy.

Yep.

I was a bit surprised to hear this news at first, but when I saw an interview w/ her and listened to her explanation, it actually made pretty good sense to me. I'm sure this isn't the last we've heard from her, but running for prez?.....I dunno about that.

She is every bit as qualified as Obama has turned out to be.

No, she was more qualified and still is. And flat out has more policy sense than most in politics today.

I'll agree to disagree, because I think BOTH are terribly unqualified.

I think we're in the post-qualified era, where the yardstick is how much damage the lack of qualification will do.

Unfortunately, Andrew, I think you've hit it on the head. It's how we ended up with a Senate race between His Normness and Stuart Smiley...

Actually in all the drama between Norm and the comedian Barkley gets forgotten, if I were a MN resident I would have voted for him over the two retards in a heartbeat.

I did, and was sorry to see him not get a bigger percentage. I honestly think he was by far the best choice of the three.

That's an interesting thought.

That actually would make more sense. Her timing of resignation just isn't in step with a coherent political strategy, were she looking to run for higher office.

-Mark

If you look at her political past she has NEVER followed a political strategy, coherent or otherwise. It doesn't make much sense to me either, but whether she deserved it or not, the constant attacks have taken the shine off her. But the fact remains is she is hugely popular with a lot of the conservative base. So whether she's on the ticket or not she would have to maintain a large role in the 2012 elections.

That said, given the financial problems we're undergoing, I think Romney is by far the most logical choice of ANY of the parties potential candidates.
