HB 410 Failure to Display

Repeals (in part) the provisions relating to the requirement of license holders to display the license upon demand for identification by a peace officer (ยงยง411.187(a),(c), and 411.205). Failure to display the license upon demand for identification by peace officer will no longer be grounds for suspension of license (currently 90 day suspension). The offense itself remains, albeit without penalty. HB 2730 Article 12A

A good change. It doesn't need a penalty. There is an affirmative duty to show the permit, and if one is unable or unwilling, the cop has the right to arrest and seize the gun for evidence.

At that point the permit holder will almost always correct his mistake. We don't need the procedure of 'suspension", just because it's on the books.

This is the way laws should be written. But usually, there's more law than necessary.
